Jonathan D. Nelson

About

Mr. Nelson began his legal career in Dallas, Texas, where he went up against some of the best attorneys in the nation, including the attorney who took the deposition of then President Bill Clinton. He also successfully defended clients against attorneys for corporate giants State Farm and Allstate.

After several years practicing law in Texas, Mr. Nelson moved back to his native state of Arkansas, where he served as a prosecuting attorney for several years. During his time as a prosecutor, Mr. Nelson became a certified law enforcement instructor and taught police training at the Arkansas Law Enforcement Training Academy. Through this experience, Mr. Nelson became well versed in how police officers and prosecutors try to convict people of crimes.

Mr. Nelson then spent several years working for the one of the largest criminal defense law firms in the state of Arkansas. From there, Mr. Nelson opened his own law firm so he could continue his efforts to help people in their time of need. He now puts his knowledge and experience to work to help people who are fighting against the unlimited resources of the government.

Mr. Nelson has vast courtroom experience. He has tried more than 300 cases to verdict and has successfully argued cases in front of the Arkansas Court of Appeals. He also teaches Criminal Law and Criminal Procedures at the college level.

Mr. Nelson graduated with honors from the University of Arkansas in 2000 with a degree in Criminal Justice and from the University of Arkansas School of Law with a law degree with honors. While in law school, Mr. Nelson served as a member and an editor of the Arkansas Law Review. He is the author of a published article concerning federal and state constitutional protections against cruel and/or unusual punishment. See 56 Ark. L. Rev. 229 (2003).
